These don't sound much like SBD's for sure - I used to think they were simply good audience tapes, but these Miller releases made me reconsider... Now I'm pretty sure they're band-made matrix recordings - a 'room mic' or two mixed with the SBD feed to try to capture more of the live sound.
One giveaway (as I mentioned in a thread below) is the Dancing in the Streets on 3/31/68 - right as they go into the jam, the mix changes, the 'audience' sound disappears and it turns into a straight SBD for the rest of the track. (A very grungy-sounding SBD, I might add...)

LIA that source switch in Dancin' always confused me...it seems unlikely that only about 6 mins of SBD existed for this show. the matrix mix explanation for these shows makes perfect sense now. i still cherish the recording however despite its roughness, since this dancin' is also one of the most wonderful pieces of upbeat psychedelica i know of!
